  Epik1, is an emcee and producer-sound engineer/DJ/ venue Promoter/ Battle rapper/graphic designer from Chicago. Growing up in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood, he was introduced to the elements of hip hop through graffiti and breakdancing in the early 90’s. Epik1 became more involved in hip hop in the late 90’s when he began freestyling with friends and DJing at local events. When he got his first MPC in 1999, Epik began his career making beats, writing rhymes and soon began recording his own independent music.
  Epik1 became known around the local hip hop scene by entering open mics and battles throughout the city. Committed to the growing Chicago scene, he is a regular at local venues such as the legendary Subterranean,Cafe Lura,The Shrine,Double Door,Jerry's Sandwiches,Mutiny,Metro,Lokal,Quenchers saloon,@North Bar,Redline Tap,The Pony,private events and many other venues threw out the Midwest including Indiana,St. Louis,Wisconsin,Detroit.

  As Epik1 continues to gain momentum and network with artists and promoters, he has linked up with local artists who share his vision for good hip hop music.He has been an opening supporting act too many major hip-hop artist including Rhymefest ,kids in the hall,Tania Morgan,cormega,binary star,ras Kass, Killa priest etc.Together with producer Ill Pee and rapper Mr. Bacon, Epik1 has created Underpaid Productions, a collective dedicated to creating classic hip hop.With a diverse array of specialties, they have assembled a crew capable of creating in-house beats and verses, and the skills necessary to perform tracks on both turntables and the Akai MPC beat machine. In 2015 he released his first album entitled EPIK1.0, which is getting great acceptance by local artist and hip-hop fans in Chicago.He did the album with no features and wrote all the lyrics also designed the designed the album cover.Produced mostly by IllPee.His album is currently available on iTunes Spotify Google play Amazon and other major online distributions,and his album is available at many record stores in Chicago including Gramaphone's reckless records and Kstarke records and more.EPIK1.0 has three videos on YouTube including "soul by the ton" and “clap” in which he did the video editing for.
  Since 2016 he has joined a national battle rap league called "no coast” and has stepped his freestyle battle raps to writing for opponents and is currently two battles in, and generating a lot of hype and attention throughout YouTube internationally.
  Epik1 is currently working on his second project EPIK1.2 that will include many great features including Wordsworth ,add2, Akbar ,Encyclopedia Brown Lyric Versatile and many other great artist.To this day, Epik1 creates and promotes the classic hip hop that he grew up on, such as A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr, Digable Planets, EPMD, Artifacts, Pharcyde, The Beatnuts, Pete Rock & CL Smooth and the Alkaholiks. He uses the underground business model of MF Doom, Lootpack, Edan, MC Juice, Celph-Titled, and Blu & Exile to spread his unique but recognizable style that is a favorite of nostalgic and underground hip hop heads everywhere.
